Okra seed. Okra is, to me, one of those most wonderful vegetables that just keeps on producing until frost. We freeze it both alone for fried okra and combined with tomatoes for use as a soup base.
Okra is a heat loving plant and does not tolerate frost nor cool soil so let the ground warm ( 60+ soil temp) and do not push direct sowing too early as they may not germinate. I do like to get a jump on things and start them in a greenhouse to transplant 2 weeks after last frost for the home/kitchen garden. I direct sow ( 1 inch deep, 6-12 inch spacing, with 3-4 foot row spacing) 2-4 weeks after the last frost in the fields ( weather permitting).
I had real good luck with okra planted 2 plants per square in the square foot beds.
Some folks swear by soaking the seeds overnight in warm water to help germination.
